A long time ago, people lived in small groups like tribes or families. As time went on and more people began living together, they needed rules to stay safe and organized. That’s why people created countries—with borders, laws, and leaders.
A country is like a big team. It protects its people, creates laws, and helps everyone live together peacefully.
But today, the world feels smaller. We can travel to other countries quickly, and we can talk to people from all over the world using the internet. Some people now ask, “Do we still need countries?”
Imagine a world with no laws. It might be hard to know what is right or wrong. If every place uses different money, it can be confusing to trade or buy things. Without borders, it might be difficult to manage resources, safety, or identity.
Countries help us live with rules and order. They organize society and protect people’s rights. But even though we live in different countries, we all share one world.
Being a good citizen of your country is important. But being a good world citizen matters too. When we learn about other countries, respect different cultures, and help people around the world, we make the world a better place for everyone.
Let’s not only think about where we live. Let’s think about how we live—together, on one planet.
